Christine Patel RDH MA, Associate Professor, BASDH
Christine Patel is an Associate Professor in the Bachelor of Applied Science Dental Hygiene program at St. Petersburg College. This is the only degree completion program in the state of Florida and one of the largest programs of this type in the country. Prior to this position, she was a full-time faculty member at the same institution in the Associates of Science program for over twenty years. Her administrative responsibilities include clinic coordination and involvement in faculty mentoring programs.
She has served on several college-wide committees including the Curriculum and Instruction committee and is currently chair of the Interprofessional Education committee on her campus. Her teaching background includes special needs patients, instrumentation, infection prevention, cultural diversity, interprofesisonal health care practices, and oral health education. She currently teaches contemporary issues in dental hygiene, advanced ethics, dental hygiene research, and leadership courses to BASDH students.
She earned her B.S. in Dental Hygiene-Public Health from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her M.A. in Adult Education from the University of South Florida. She is a member of the ADHA and ADEA. She is also a member of the Pinellas Park Rotary Club and is actively involved in their fluoride/sealant community school-based program. She enjoys traveling with her family and learning about different cultures.
