Melissa Ing D.M.D., Associate Professor
Dr. Melissa Ing is an associate professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Comprehensive Care. She is course director for Introduction to Clinical Dental Operative Materials Workshop. She also teaches cariology, caries removal workshops, standardized case notes and ergonomics to the undergraduate classes. Dr. Ing is principal investigator in over 15 projects in the areas of educational and public health research and has a keen interest in the areas of infection control and risk management. Her book chapter on infection control and ergonomics will be released end of 2018. She is a very passionate advocate for STEM education and devotes her spare time encouraging middle grade school children to consider the health sciences as future careers. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the American Dental Education Association/Colgate Palmolive Excellence in Teaching Award and the University of Connecticut Kaiser-Permanente Teaching Awards. She is a member of the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments, the American Dental Education Association, the Consortium of Operative Dental Educators, and the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention.
