Shannon Mills DDS
Shannon E. Mills, D.D.S. is the Vice President for Strategy and Business Development at PreViser Corporation, a healthcare analytics software company specializing in oral health risk assessment.
Dr. Mills graduate from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1977 and completed a two-year residency in general dentistry at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center in 1983. He served as a dental officer in the United States Air Force Dental Corps from 1977 to 2005, retiring in the rank of Colonel. During his Air Force career, Dr. Mills’ assignments included the Air Force Dental Investigation Service, the Air Force Inspector General, the Air Force Surgeon General’s Office and the Defense Medical Standardization Board.
Following his Air Force retirement, Dr. Mills was Assistant Director for the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Dental General Practice Residency.
From 2007 until 2016, he was the Vice President for Professional Relations and Science at Northeast Delta Dental (NEDD) in Concord, NH, where he led the collaboration between NEDD and PreViser Corporation to develop the first evidence-based and patient centered dental benefit plan based on objective digital risk-assessment.
He has authored or co-authored numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed dental and scientific journals and was a member of the Advisory Group that prepared the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Healthcare Settings—2003.
Dr. Mills is a peer reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association is a member of the ADA and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standards Committees for Dental Products (SCDP) and Dental Informatics (SCDI) and is a member of the U.S. Delegation to Technical Committee 106-Dentistry of the International Organization for Standards (ISO TC-106).
Karen O’Connor RDH, BSDH
Karen O’Connor RDH is the Client Engagement Manager at PreViser Corporation, a healthcare analytics software company specializing in oral health risk assessment.
Karen is a 2004 graduate of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene. She is currently a master’s degree candidate at MCPHS University, concentrating in dental hygiene and public health. She is the recipient of the 2016 American Dental Hygienists’ Association Institute for Oral Health Scholarship and the Forsyth Graduate Dental Hygiene Scholarship. She is also a member of the ADHA, Sigma Phi Alpha, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies.
Karen has more than 13 years of experience in dental hygiene, treating all ages and populations, including the Medicaid population. From 2013-2016, Karen also held an adjunct faculty position at MCPHS University, Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at their Worcester, Massachusetts campus. Her teaching responsibilities included dental materials lab, local anesthesia lab, and all aspects of clinical dental hygiene.
From 2016-2017, Karen was the oral health and wellness solutions specialist for Northeast Delta Dental, promoting their industry leading, evidence-based plan design HOW (Health through Oral Wellness), which is powered by PreViser’s Oral Health Information Suite. Karen traveled across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont to teach dental offices the value of incorporating PreViser into their practices.
Karen has provided CE course content on risk assessments to the Vermont Periodontal Study Club, as well as the New Hampshire Dental Hygienists’ Association.
Karen’s professional areas of interest include medical and dental integration, oral health risk assessments, and integration of oral health competencies into non-dental health professions curricula.
