Dr. Alaa Mohsen DHED, DDS, MS, MPH, CPH
Dr. Alaa Mohsen is a distinguished leader in dental education and public health, currently serving as Chair of the Dental Hygiene Department. With a career marked by academic excellence, visionary program development, and a deep commitment to quality assurance, Dr. Mohsen has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of dental hygiene education.
Dr. Mohsen has participated in numerous site visits and evaluation processes, contributing to the advancement of academic standards across institutions. She was instrumental in the establishment and accreditation of the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program, which earned recognition from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Her leadership ensured the program met rigorous national standards, preparing graduates for excellence in clinical practice and community health.
Dr. Mohsen?s extensive knowledge within the dental field includes general dentistry, public health, orofacial pain and dental implant. Her passion for the field led her to disseminate her knowledge, skills, and abilities as an Instructor as an Associate Professor at the NYU School of Dentistry and Instructor for the Diagnostic?s
Department at UMDNJ.
Dr. Mohsen carries several degrees including a Doctor of Health Education and Health Promotion from Arizona State University, Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Baghdad; a Master?s of Science degree in Department of Biomaterials from New York University; a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New jersey; a Fellowship in Orofacial pain-Diagnostic science degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and various continuing education courses.
Beyond dental hygiene, Dr. Mohsen has been actively involved in the accreditation of allied health programs at EIC, supporting the development of high-quality curricula and institutional readiness. Her interdisciplinary approach and collaborative spirit have strengthened the academic infrastructure and enhanced student outcomes across health sciences.
Dr. Mohsen also contributed to the founding and development of a Master?s program in Dental Public Health, reflecting her dedication to advancing oral health at the population level. Her work bridges clinical expertise with public health strategy, empowering future leaders to address disparities and promote
Preventive care.
Dr. Mohsen teaches across multiple formats, including the traditional dental hygiene program and the online degree completion program for the Bachelor of Dental Hygiene. Her inclusive and student-centered approach ensures that learners, whether on campus or remote receive a high-quality, evidence-based education that prepares them for clinical excellence and leadership in oral health.
With a career grounded in academic integrity, innovation, and service, Dr. Alaa Mohsen continues to inspire excellence in dental education and public health leadership. Her contributions continue to shape the standards of dental hygiene education and allied health programs nationwide. She currently resides in Florham Park, New Jersey, and is married with two children.
