Participants will learn to:
- Identify key dimensions of patient-centered care and the important role played by communication in fostering, understanding and developing a therapeutic alliance.
- Define culture, cultural competence and culturally effective oral healthcare.
- Recognize that patients and oral healthcare professionals often have different perspectives
- Recognize the types of issues/challenges that are particularly important in caring for patients of diverse cultural backgrounds.
