In this webinar caries risk assessment will be reviewed, highlighting the importance of developing a personalized treatment plan. The principles of evaluating the tools of current emerging caries detection, assessment, and diagnostic methods as applied to caries and other dental hard tissue disorders will be presented. In addition, caries risk factors, risk indicators and protective factors will be discussed to address best treatment approach and ultimately educate patient. Prevention is better than cure!
Participants will learn:
- Review the risk factors, risk indicators and protective factors associated with risk assessment of caries and other dental hard tissue disorders.
- Determine the principles of treatment planning patients with carious lesions based on their caries risk.
- Compare tools of current and emerging caries detection, assessment, and diagnostic methods as applied to caries and other dental hard tissue disorders.
- Determine the caries risk of the patient.
- Develop a comprehensive personalized treatment plan.
- Recognize the risks and educate the patient.

She has received her DDS degree from the University of Athens School of Dentistry and her MS degree in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Dedicated to continuing education, she earned a Master’s in Education from the Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development, while teaching full-time. She currently serves as the Chair for Boston District Dental Society. Dr. Maseli is an active member of American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and currently serves as Chair-Elect for the Comprehensive Care and General Dentistry Section. She is recipient of the 2021 MDS 10 Under Ten award and the 2023 Incisal Edge 40 Under 40 award.
