Cancer therapy can lead to a number of side-effects that can impact oral health and dental care.
This two-part course will present the most common oral complications of cancer therapy and their impacts on dental care. Case Discussions are included to emphasize real-world application of the material in your practice. Part 1 presents the oral complications of conventional chemotherapy and newer targeted anticancer agents. Topics covered include oral mucositis, stomatitis, immunosuppression, oral infections, and other oral complications.
Participants will learn:
- To recognize the oral complications of chemotherapeutic agents used for cancer, including newer targeted and immunotherapy agents.
- To manage the oral complications of chemotherapeutic agents used for cancer, including newer targeted and immunotherapy agents.
- To understand the implications for dental care before, during, and after cancer therapy

More courses with Rajesh LallaDr. Rajesh V. Lalla is a Professor of Oral Medicine and Associate Dean for Research at the UConn School of Dental Medicine. He is a clinician-scientist who conducts clinical research on oral complications of cancer therapy. His research has been funded by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), foundations, and industry. Dr. Lalla has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, many of them dealing with oral complications of cancer therapy. He has been invited to speak on this topic at several national and international meetings.
